Position Summary
We are hiring a Residential Construction Site Work Supervisor to lead and manage our site development operation. This role is responsible for the crew, the schedule, material, quality, and the overall productivity and profitability of the team. The supervisor plans and directs daily site works, leads and develops the crew, and works alongside them as a hands-on leader, operating equipment as job demands require. The ideal candidate is first and foremost a leader who can run a jobsite, hold a team accountable, and keep projects on grade, on schedule, and on budget.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead, direct, and supervise the daily activities of the site crew
- Plan, build, and manage crew and equipment schedules to keep projects sequenced and on track
- Manage crew productivity, labor efficiency, and job profitability
- Order, manage, and track material and coordinate with vendors and suppliers
- Inspect and verify completed work for quality, accuracy to grade, and conformance to plans
- Ensure all equipment is properly maintained, serviced, inspected, and jobsite-ready, and coordinate repairs
- Establish, train, and enforce safety standards and a culture of accountability on all job sites Read and interpret site plans and construction drawings to direct the crew's work
- Operate heavy equipment (excavator, skid steer, mini excavator, and similar) to work alongside and support the crew, including foundation excavation, utility trenching and backfill, grading, and yard installation
- Drive truck and trailer to and from job sites as needed
Required Qualifications
- Proven experience managing or supervising crews in residential construction, or equivalent residential real estate experience
- Demonstrated ability to lead a team to productive output and profitability
- 5-plus years of heavy equipment operating experience (excavator required)
- Hands-on experience digging foundations
- Skilled at running grade, including the ability to set and hold finish grade
- Experience installing yards (soil management, fine grading within 1/4 inch accuracy, and turf establishment)
- Experience with skid steers, mini excavators, and similar equipment
- Experience driving trucks and trailers
- Strong knowledge of site prep and utility installation (water, sewer, electrical conduit)
- Ability to safely direct and operate equipment on tight residential job sites
- Valid driver's license with clean record
- High school diploma or GED
- Must pass a background check and drug screening
- DMV check required if operating a company vehicle
Working Conditions
- Work performed on active construction sites and in completed homes
- Exposure to outdoor weather conditions, dust, and construction noise
- Outdoor work year-round in varied weather
- Physically active role including lifting, digging, and equipment operation
- Requires frequent movement, bending, and lifting
- Some travel between job sites required (mileage reimbursed if personal vehicle is used)
90-Day Introductory Period
All new hires are subject to a 90-day introductory period. During this time, performance, reliability, leadership, workmanship, equipment operation skills, and safety practices will be evaluated. Upon successful completion, the employee may be confirmed as a regular, full-time team member. This probationary period does not alter the at-will nature of employment under West Virginia labor law.
