Summary:
The Development Associate supports the Executive Director of the Office of Stewardship and Development and the Catholic Foundation of Utah in advancing the Diocese's fundraising, grant-writing, stewardship, and donor engagement efforts.
This position is responsible for researching, preparing, submitting, and tracking grant applications; assisting with donor relations and stewardship initiatives; and maintaining accurate donor and grant records.
Responsibilities
Grant Writing and Grant Administration
· Research and identify grant funding opportunities that support diocesan ministries, parishes, missions, schools, and clergy.
· Communicate with grant-making organizations to determine eligibility requirements, funding priorities, deadlines, and application procedures.
· Maintain a grant calendar and track application, reporting, and renewal deadlines.
· Collaborate with diocesan ministry leaders, pastors, principals, and other stakeholders to gather information needed for grant applications.
· Prepare, edit, and coordinate grant proposals and supporting documentation, including budgets, financial statements, photographs, historical information, project plans, and other required materials.
· Draft letters of endorsement and other supporting correspondence for the Bishop's signature when required.
· Submit grant applications and required reports in accordance with funding agency guidelines and deadlines.
· Maintain organized records of grant applications, awards, reports, correspondence, payment notifications, and acknowledgment letters.
· Monitor grant award status and assist with grant reporting requirements.
Stewardship and Development
· Assist with donor cultivation, engagement, and stewardship activities through phone calls, written correspondence, and donor events.
· Support the Executive Director and Development and Marketing Coordinator in implementing stewardship and fundraising initiatives for the Diocese and the Catholic Foundation of Utah.
· Assist in the preparation, distribution, and updating of materials related to the Diocesan Development Drive and Diocesan stewardship efforts.
· Prepare donor, sponsor, solicitation, acknowledgment, and thank-you letters.
· Assist with donor events, presentations, and stewardship activities as assigned.
· Support the creation and production of stewardship communications, including monthly stewardship videos and related materials.
Database Management
· Research and verify donor contributions and checks received.
· Enter donor and gift information accurately into the ParishSoft database.
· Review and validate data entry batches to ensure accuracy and completeness.
· Maintain accurate donor records and assist with database integrity and reporting.
Qualifications/Education/Experience
· Associate or Bachelor’s Degree preferred in English, Communication, Business, Non-profit Administration or related field.
· 2-5 years’ experience 39especially in grant writing, fundraising, non-profit or program development experience.
· Strong written communication and organizational skills.
· Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines simultaneously.
· Attention to detail and accuracy in preparing grant applications and maintaining records.
· Proficiency with Microsoft Office and donor database systems.
· Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise sound judgment.
· Serve as a member of the Diocesan Pastoral Center staff, responsive to expectations as delineated by the Policy Directives and under the leadership of the Bishop, Vicar General, and Supervisor.
· Understanding of Catholic Church ethics, traditions, procedures, and organizational structures.
· Active participation in a parish and willingness to abide by the Code of Ethical Standards outlined in the Pastoral Directives.
