The Neenah Joint School District is accepting applications for a full-time (1.0 FTE) Custodian-2nd shift at Neenah Middle School. The official start date is July 1, 2026, though an earlier start date, as soon as June 1st, can be accommodated.
Under the direct supervision of the Building Principal, the Supervisor of Operations, and or the Director of Operations & Maintenance, perform second-shift housekeeping duties for the building, equipment and grounds, while ensuring a safe and sanitary environment for the students, teachers, and general public.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Perform night custodial cleaning assignments and tasks as directed by the Supervisor of Operations.
- Assist District custodial staff with the efficient setup and teardown of special events.
- Perform all cleaning tasks, including but not limited to: cleaning and sanitizing classrooms, restrooms, and locker rooms; cleaning floors, walls, fixtures, furniture, windows, and equipment; stripping and waxing floors and shampooing carpets.
- Assist with a complete cleaning of the building during summer months.
- Snow shoveling and salting of sidewalks and entranceways, as needed.
- Nightly check that exterior doors are locked and secure.
- Other duties as assigned by Supervisor of Operations.
Qualifications:
- Ability to communicate and work effectively with staff, coaches, administrators, students, and the general public; and to work cooperatively with the operations and maintenance staff to assure facilities are clean, safe, properly maintained and secure.
- Must be a highly motivated and positive individual willing to take direction, work with minimal supervision, anticipate building needs, and make independent decisions leading to solutions of problems.
- Ability to become completely familiar with the school and basic mechanical system operations.
- Ability to organize and prioritize work.
- Ability to work with hand tools and small power tools.
- Ability to work from high scaffolds, lifts, and ladders.
- Knowledge and experience in the safe and efficient use of cleaners and solvents consistent with Right to Know Guidelines.
- Physical fitness and stamina to be able to lift 50 pounds and greater, move furniture, operate floor machines, and shovel snow.
- Flexible to work additional hours when required to meet facility needs.
- Willingness to attend workshops and/or seminars to enhance job knowledge and skill level.
- Initiative in all areas of performance responsibilities.
Additional Requirements:
- Graduation from high school is required.
- Minimum of three years’ custodial experience is preferred.
- Must be able to pass a background check.
- Must be able to pass a physical exam and drug test.
Working Hours:
- June to August: 6:00 AM to 2:30 PM, with an unpaid 30 minutes lunch break.
- September to May: Monday to Friday, 3:00 PM to 11:30 PM, with an unpaid 30 minute lunch break.
