Basketball Coach – Basketball Development Academy (BDA)

Position Summary
Basketball Development Academy (BDA) is seeking passionate, energetic, and knowledgeable basketball coaches who are committed to developing student-athletes both on and off the court. BDA coaches are expected to teach the fundamentals of basketball, promote discipline, sportsmanship, teamwork, and serve as positive role models while helping players reach their full athletic and personal potential.
Primary ResponsibilitiesPlayer Development
- Teach basketball fundamentals, skills, and game concepts.
- Develop practice plans that are organized, engaging, and age-appropriate.
- Improve players' basketball IQ, confidence, and decision-making.
- Provide individual player evaluations and constructive feedback.
Team Leadership
- Lead practices, games, and tournaments professionally.
- Promote a positive, competitive, and disciplined team culture.
- Encourage teamwork, accountability, and respect.
- Ensure every athlete is treated fairly and with respect.
Communication
- Maintain professional communication with parents, players, and BDA leadership.
- Respond to parent questions respectfully and promptly.
- Attend coaches meetings and organizational events.
- Communicate schedules, expectations, and program updates.
Game Preparation
- Scout opponents when necessary.
- Develop offensive and defensive game plans.
- Make in-game adjustments.
- Manage substitutions and player rotations effectively.
Mentorship
- Be a positive role model.
- Encourage academic success and character development.
- Teach leadership, responsibility, discipline, and work ethic.
- Help athletes prepare for middle school, high school, and collegiate basketball opportunities.
Program Representation
- Represent BDA with professionalism at all times.
- Promote BDA's mission, culture, and values.
- Support recruiting efforts and community outreach events.
- Maintain a positive image on social media and in public.
Qualifications Required
- Previous basketball playing or coaching experience.
- Strong knowledge of basketball fundamentals.
- Excellent leadership and communication skills.
- Ability to motivate athletes of varying skill levels.
- Reliable transportation.
- Ability to work evenings and weekends.
- Passion for youth development.
Preferred
- AAU coaching experience.
- High school or collegiate playing experience.
- USA Basketball Gold License (or willingness to obtain).
- CPR/First Aid Certification.
- Background check clearance.
