Brasswood Bar + Bakery + Kitchen is looking for an experienced Cafe Shift Lead to support daily café operations and help ensure exceptional service and high-quality products. This role is ideal for a hospitality-experienced individual who is comfortable taking on additional responsibility during their shift and helping maintain a smooth, organized, and welcoming café environment. The Café Shift Lead will work closely with the café team to uphold service and quality standards and help ensure consistency throughout each shift. This is a hands-on café position focused on service, beverage preparation, and daily operations. Applicants must be at least 21 years of age. Wine knowledge is a plus.
Key Responsibilities:
- Create a welcoming and positive atmosphere for guests and colleagues with a hospitality-forward mindset. Respond to customer questions and concerns promptly and graciously.
- Support smooth day-to-day café operations during the shift, helping maintain efficient and consistent service.
- Be a reliable and experienced team member who can assist coworkers and help keep service running smoothly, especially during busy periods.
- Prepare and serve espresso-based drinks, brewed coffee, and specialty beverages with attention to quality and presentation.
- Provide wine service to guests by understanding Brasswood Cellars wine basics and following responsible and professional service standards. (Wine training will be provided.)
- Operate the cash register accurately and follow proper cash-handling practices.
- Take food orders in person, by phone, and via DoorDash, and prepare orders following food safety guidelines.
- Assist new staff with learning drink preparation, service standards, café procedures, and wine service.
- Maintain knowledge of menu items, ingredients, and allergens to assist customers effectively.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization throughout the café, including service and prep areas, according to OSHA standards.
- Monitor inventory levels and communicate supply needs to the appropriate team member or management.
- Perform additional duties as needed.
Position Requirements:
- Must be 21 years of age or older.
- At least one year of barista experience is required.
- Strong knowledge of espresso preparation and brewing methods.
- Wine knowledge is a plus; willingness to learn is encouraged.
- Excellent customer service skills and a positive, team-oriented attitude.
- Ability to multitask and remain composed in a fast-paced setting.
- Cashier experience with accuracy and accountability.
- Basic understanding of food safety practices.
- Strong communication and teamwork skills.
- Reliable and comfortable working independently when needed.
- Flexible availability, including mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
The employee is frequently required to bend, stand, and walk for long periods. This position requires the ability to occasionally carry up to 50 pounds.
