Job Overview

Duties
- Assist in diverse recreational activities tailored to residents’ interests and abilities, including arts and crafts, music therapy, games, and outings
- Collaborate with nursing staff and caregivers to incorporate therapeutic activities that support residents’ physical and cognitive health
- Assist with the development of individual activity plans for residents with specific needs such as Alzheimer’s or dementia care
- Foster social engagement by encouraging participation in group events and one-on-one interactions
- Manage activity schedules efficiently to ensure a balanced and stimulating daily routine for all residents
- Monitor residents’ responses to activities, providing feedback to the care team for ongoing adjustments
- Maintain accurate records of participation, resident preferences, and activity outcomes
Requirements
- Proven experience in event planning or recreational therapy within assisted living, nursing homes, or long-term care settings
- Knowledge of Alzheimer’s care, memory care, dementia care, and senior care best practices
- Experience working with individuals with disabilities or in home & community care environments is highly desirable
- Strong communication skills to effectively engage residents and collaborate with multidisciplinary teams
- Excellent schedule management skills to coordinate multiple activities seamlessly throughout the day
- Compassionate approach with understanding of aging issues counseling and social work principles
- Demonstrated ability to foster a positive environment that promotes socialization and emotional well-being
