Duties
- Perform thorough cleaning of floors, restrooms, offices, and common areas using appropriate cleaning equipment such as floor buffers and scrubbers.
- Handle chemical agents safely while applying cleaning solutions for sanitation and stain removal, adhering strictly to chemical handling safety procedures.
- Conduct manual handling tasks including heavy lifting of supplies, furniture, and equipment following safe lifting practices to prevent injury.
- Maintain cleanliness by emptying trash receptacles, restocking supplies, and ensuring all areas meet sanitation standards.
- Operate custodial equipment efficiently for floor care, buffing, and polishing to uphold high standards of cleanliness.
- Follow safety protocols diligently during all cleaning activities to ensure a secure environment for yourself and others.
- Assist with minor maintenance tasks such as residential painting or basic facilities upkeep when needed.
Experience
- Prior janitorial or custodial experience in commercial or residential settings is preferred.
- Knowledge of cleaning techniques including floor care, sanitation procedures, and the use of various cleaning equipment.
- Experience handling chemical agents safely and understanding chemical handling safety procedures.
- Familiarity with facilities maintenance tasks such as minor repairs or painting is a plus.
- Strong customer service skills to interact professionally with staff and visitors while maintaining a positive attitude.
- Ability to perform physical tasks involving manual handling and heavy lifting comfortably and safely.
- Previous porter or maintenance experience will be considered an asset.
