We are so excited to announce that we are hiring for Okatshe, a new Japanese restaurant and bar by Celebrity Chef Jose Garces.
José Garces, James Beard Award-winner, Iron Chef, entrepreneur, food innovator, and restauranteur, will open his concept Okatshe in downtown Allentown this Fall. Okatshe will feature a dimly lit ornamental aesthetic with unique Japanese inspired cuisine, and an incredibly thoughtful cocktail list that focuses on Japanese whiskey. All in the heart of Allentown’s Downtown West neighborhood.
We are looking for servers who are energetic, responsible and have a passion for the restaurant industry. The ideal candidate has prior experience preparing a variety of food items, is well-versed in customer service skills and is able to work quickly and accurately in a fast-paced restaurant.
Serving staff will be required to learn the food and drink menu to convey our unique offerings. Front of house staff will be expected to move with grace and purpose. We want our guests to feel taken care of and excited about joining us for a meal or drinks. Being hospitable towards co-workers and guests is of the utmost importance to us and we strive to have everyone leaving our restaurant happy.

Responsibilities
- Greet tables and walk guest through each menu, answering any questions/concerns they may have.
- Provide exceptional customer service by engaging with guests, taking orders, and delivering drinks promptly.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of the server station, restaurant floor, walkways and tables.
- Monitor guests needs as they are dining, always making yourself available to provide whatever someone may need with out seeking assistance.
- Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations, including proper food handling practices.
- Collaborate with kitchen staff and other team members to ensure smooth service during busy periods.
- Assist with catering events or banquets as required, providing support in beverage service.
Experience
- Previous experience in the food industry or hospitality sector is preferred, particularly in casual fine dining involving modern cocktails.
- Familiarity with Toast POS or similar point-of-sale systems is a plus.
- Basic knowledge of food and certain dishes and ingredients.
- Excellent time management skills to handle multiple orders efficiently during peak hours.
- Ability to work collaboratively within a team while also being proactive in guest interactions.
