Position Overview
The Market Attendant is responsible for the daily operation of the community market, including customer service, merchandise sales, inventory support, stocking, and maintaining a clean and organized shopping environment. This position works closely with the Culinary Director to ensure residents have access to a variety of products and a positive shopping experience.
Key Responsibilities
Customer Service & Sales
- Provide friendly, attentive service to residents and visitors.
- Assist customers with purchases and answer questions about available merchandise.
- Process sales transactions accurately using the cash register.
- Perform opening and closing cash handling procedures according to established policies.
Inventory & Merchandising
- Assist with purchasing and displaying merchandise within the Market.
- Stock shelves and maintain attractive product displays.
- Conduct annual physical inventory counts.
Operations & Organization
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment.
- Ensure proper storage and care of equipment, merchandise, and supplies.
- Communicate resident requests, concerns, and operational updates to the Culinary Director.
- Participate in department meetings and training programs.
Qualifications
Required
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Ability to read, write, and communicate effectively in English.
- Basic math skills and the ability to accurately handle cash transactions.
- Ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
- Strong interpersonal and customer service skills.
- Valid Wisconsin driver's license.
- Ability to safely perform the physical requirements of the role with or without reasonable accommodation.
Preferred
- Previous retail, cashiering, customer service, bookkeeping, or cash-handling experience.
- Experience working in senior living, hospitality, food service, or a customer-focused environment.
