Vehicle Acquisition SpecialistPohanka Honda – Capitol Heights, MD
Pohanka Honda is seeking a motivated Vehicle Acquisition Specialist to help strengthen and expand our pre-owned vehicle inventory. In this role, you will connect directly with vehicle owners, identify vehicles the dealership may be interested in purchasing, and guide customers through the appraisal and acquisition process. You will work closely with our pre-owned vehicle, sales, and service teams to locate quality inventory and create a convenient, professional experience for customers interested in selling their vehicle. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys speaking with customers, building relationships, and working toward measurable goals.
Previous automotive experience is not required, and full training will be provided.
What You’ll Do
- Identify potential vehicles for purchase through service appointments, dealership customer records, referrals, and vehicle-acquisition platforms
- Contact current and prospective customers by phone, email, text, and in person
- Invite customers to receive an appraisal and discuss the benefits of selling their vehicle directly to Pohanka Honda
- Schedule appraisal appointments and maintain consistent follow-up with prospective sellers
- Gather vehicle details and assist with initial condition evaluations
- Use dealership appraisal and inventory tools to document vehicle information
- Partner with the Used Car Manager to identify priority vehicles and support purchasing decisions
- Maintain accurate customer notes, appointments, and follow-up activity within the dealership CRM
- Assist with acquisition paperwork and help ensure each transaction is completed efficiently
- Work with the sales and service departments to uncover additional vehicle-purchasing opportunities
- Complete a consistent volume of daily outbound customer contacts
- Track activity, appointments, offers, and completed acquisitions
- Participate in team meetings and contribute ideas for improving results
- Deliver a professional and customer-focused experience throughout the selling process
What We’re Looking For
- Previous experience in sales, customer service, hospitality, retail, call centers, or another customer-facing role is helpful but not required
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- A friendly and confident approach to customer outreach
- Comfortable making outbound calls and maintaining frequent follow-up
- Ability to quickly establish trust and build customer relationships
- Willingness to learn automotive CRM, appraisal, and inventory-management systems
- Strong organization and time-management skills
- Ability to manage multiple customer conversations and appointments
- A self-motivated and goal-oriented mindset
- Positive attitude and ability to work effectively with multiple dealership departments
- Professional appearance and dependable work ethic
- Ability to succeed in a fast-paced dealership environment
- A valid driver’s license and acceptable driving record
