Job Objectives
Under the supervision of the Director of Housekeeping and/or Assistant Director of Housekeeping, the Laundry Aide is responsible for the proper handling, processing and storage of residents’ linen and clothing ensuring that there is a sufficient supply for their care and comfort.
Job Standards
1. Able to read, write, speak and understand English.
2. Adhere to departmental dress code.
3. High School Diploma, or equivalent, preferred.
Job Functions (* connotes essential function of the job)
- 1. Collect residents' soiled linens and clothing; sort and remove stains.
Dietary - napkin table cloths, personal laundry
Monday & Tuesday - apartment sheets - set up pink cart
Give out personal towels on Monday
Tuesday, personal sheets given out
Beds should be made by 8 a.m.
Give out personal laundry on Thursdays (not to be left for the next day)
- 2. Operate equipment such as washer, dryer with minimal supervision. Report malfunctions to supervisor.
- 3. Remove linen/clothing from dryers, sort for distribution, hang, or iron as required.
- 4. Fold, count and stack linens according to department, unit or supply room.
5. Maintain records of linen usage; notify supervisor of needs.
- 6. Place linens on carts, clothing on racks and distribute to appropriate departments/residents.
7. Stamp all linens as needed.
- 8. Fill emergency requisitions for extra linens.
9. Inspect linens for wear and tear; dispose of or set aside for repairs as directed by supervisor.
- 10. Clean equipment and work area daily or as scheduled including wet/dry mopping and washing tables and fixtures.
- 11. Follow established regulations/policies when handling linens.
- 12. Work effectively with residents, staff and supervisors.
- 13. Handle soiled linen/clothing according to established infection control procedures.
- 14. Properly maintain supplies and equipment.
- 15. Attend in-service training programs.
- 16. Maintain a positive, pleasant attitude. Treat residents with respect and courtesy.
