Who We’re Looking For:
A Material Handler is a crucial team member responsible for the safe operation of forklifts to facilitate the movement of finished goods within the warehouse and yard. This role involves packaging, moving and locating material in a warehouse environment. The Material Handler plays a key role in maintaining a complete understanding of product specifications and upholding quality standards.
What You’ll Be Doing:
- Safely and efficiently package finished materials according to specific instructions and quality standards.
- Collaborate closely with Machine Operators to coordinate the packaging process seamlessly.
- Use a forklift to transport materials to and from workstations and designated storage areas.
- Ensure proper labeling and tagging of packaged materials.
- Maintain a high level of cleanliness and organization in the packaging area.
- Assist with the loading and unloading of materials using forklifts and overhead cranes.
- Adhere to all safety procedures and guidelines, including the consistent use of required personal protective equipment (PPE).
- Utilize the SteelPlus ERP system for recording and tracking packaging and inventory data.
- Contribute to meeting or exceeding quality standards for finished goods inventory
Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or equivalent is required.
- Ability to consistently report to work as scheduled and perform essential job functions, with or without reasonable accommodations
- Previous experience working in an industrial manufacturing environment is a plus.
- Proficiency in forklift operation and knowledge of various packaging equipment.
- Basic technology literacy for data entry and equipment operation.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to lift, push, pull, carry items up to 25lbs. in weight
- Ability to stand, stoop, kneel, and bend for prolonged periods of time
- Ability to work overtime and extended hours as needed
- Acute hearing and strong field of vision
- Ability to work in demanding physical and inclement weather conditions
