About the Role:
The Water Plant Operator plays a critical role in ensuring the safe, efficient, and continuous operation of water treatment facilities. This position is responsible for monitoring and controlling the treatment processes to provide clean and safe drinking water that meets all regulatory standards. The operator will conduct routine inspections, perform maintenance on equipment, and troubleshoot operational issues to prevent service interruptions. The operator will also maintain accurate records of plant operations and water quality data to support compliance and reporting requirements. Ultimately, the Water Plant Operator helps protect public health by ensuring the delivery of high-quality water to the Lakeside Park community.
Minimum Qualifications:

High school diploma or equivalent.

Valid Water Treatment Operator AND Distribution Operator certification as required by the State Water Resources Control Board.

Basic knowledge of water treatment processes and equipment operation.

Ability to perform physical tasks including lifting, climbing, and working in confined spaces.

Strong attention to detail and ability to follow standard operating procedures.
Preferred Qualifications:

Experience with SCADA systems and computerized plant control software.

Responsibilities:

Monitor and control water treatment processes including filtration, chemical dosing, and disinfection to ensure water quality standards are met.

Conduct regular inspections and preventive maintenance of plant equipment such as pumps, valves, and chemical feed systems.

Collect and analyze water samples to test for contaminants and verify compliance with environmental regulations.

Maintain detailed operational logs, prepare reports, and document any incidents or deviations from standard procedures.

Respond promptly to alarms and operational issues, troubleshooting and resolving problems to minimize downtime.
