Furniture Frame Builder / Woodworker
Location: Farmers Branch, TX — On-site
Employment Type: Full-time
Pay: $20–$24/hour, based on experience
About Headboards World
Headboards World is a growing custom upholstered furniture manufacturer based in the Dallas-Fort Worth area. We manufacture custom beds, headboards, banquettes, chairs, benches, ottomans, and other upholstered furniture for clients nationwide.
Our manufacturing operation combines modern CNC production with hands-on furniture-building and woodworking skills.
About the Role
We are looking for an experienced Furniture Frame Builder / Woodworker to build and assemble the wooden frames used in our upholstered furniture.
Our CNC router will produce many of the plywood and wood components used in our furniture frames. You will take those components and accurately assemble them into strong, square, production-quality frames.
However, because we manufacture custom furniture, not every part or project will be CNC-cut. You must also be comfortable measuring, cutting, modifying, and fabricating wood components yourself when needed.
The ideal candidate has experience in furniture framing, upholstered furniture manufacturing, woodworking, cabinetry, millwork, or another hands-on wood-production environment.
Responsibilities
- Build wooden frames for beds, headboards, banquettes, chairs, benches, ottomans, and other upholstered furniture
- Assemble CNC-cut plywood and wood components into complete furniture frames
- Measure, mark, cut, drill, fasten, and modify wood components accurately
- Fabricate components manually for custom or one-off furniture projects
- Work with plywood, dimensional lumber, and other furniture-frame materials
- Operate saws, drills, routers, nail/staple guns, sanders, and other woodworking tools safely
- Read and work from dimensions, basic drawings, templates, cut lists, and production specifications
- Verify frame dimensions, squareness, strength, and structural support before frames move to upholstery
- Identify missing, incorrect, or improperly cut CNC components before assembly
- Make minor adjustments and corrections to components when appropriate
- Work closely with CNC, engineering, upholstery, and production teams
- Help improve jigs, templates, and assembly methods as production grows
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe woodworking area
- Consistently meet production and quality expectations
Qualifications
Prior furniture framing or hands-on woodworking experience is strongly preferred.
Relevant backgrounds may include:
- Upholstered furniture frame building
- Furniture manufacturing
- Sofa, chair, bed, or headboard frame construction
- Cabinetmaking or cabinet manufacturing
- Millwork
- Production woodworking
- Custom woodworking
- Other similar wood fabrication or manufacturing experience
Candidates should be able to:
- Measure and cut wood accurately
- Confidently use woodworking hand and power tools
- Work with plywood and dimensional lumber
- Build accurately from dimensions, drawings, templates, or cut lists
- Square and reinforce wooden frames
- Understand fastening methods and basic structural support
- Assemble CNC-cut components accurately
- Fabricate or modify parts independently when necessary
- Identify problems before a frame moves to the next stage of production
- Maintain consistent quality while working in a production environment
Important: Construction framing experience alone may not qualify. This position requires the accuracy and woodworking skills needed for furniture manufacturing.
What We're Looking For
The strongest candidates will have direct experience building frames for upholstered furniture such as beds, headboards, sofas, chairs, banquettes, benches, or ottomans.
We will also consider experienced cabinetmakers, millworkers, and production woodworkers whose skills transfer well to furniture-frame construction.
We are looking for someone who can do more than assemble pre-cut pieces. You should be comfortable building, cutting, modifying, troubleshooting, and making adjustments when a custom project requires it.
