American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a PCU (Medical-Renal) position at a Level I Trauma, Magnet-designated academic teaching hospital, requiring Epic proficiency and night shift availability.

Progressive Care Unit (PCU) specializing in Hospitalist Medicine patients with renal and medical diagnoses
-
Serves adult and geriatric patient populations with a 1:5 nurse-to-patient ratio
-
One bed dedicated to chronic ventilator patients
-
Unit also functions as an alternative care setting for gastrointestinal, pulmonary, and other surgical or procedural patients covered by hospitalists
-
Night shift schedule: 3x12-hour shifts, 6:45 PM – 7:15 AM
-
Weekend requirement: every other weekend (EOW) or 6 weekend shifts per 6-week scheduling block
-
One holiday shift required per 13-week contract

Floating within skillset is required

Epic EMR experience required
-
Active Virginia state or Compact RN license; a pending license is accepted only for candidates holding a single-state license from a non-compact state

Current certifications: BLS, ACLS, and NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS)

Experience in a PCU, DOU, IMC, or Stepdown setting required
-
Proficiency in cardiac monitoring, dysrhythmia interpretation and management, and cardiac drip management (without titration)
-
Skills in IV therapy, phlebotomy, blood product administration, and central/peripheral line care
-
Respiratory support experience including nasal cannula, oxygen administration, and non-invasive airway management
-
Experience with rapid response and code team activation, and maintaining isolation precautions

Two professional references required for consideration

Copy of driver's license and Social Security card required for consideration

Magnet-designated, Level I Trauma Center (adult and pediatric) and certified stroke center
-
Academic teaching hospital affiliated with Virginia Tech Carilion School of Medicine, UVA, and Virginia College of Osteopathic Medicine

703 licensed bed acute care facility
