Vesta Mine Services is seeking dependable, productive, and safety-focused Pennsylvania-certified Mine Foremen and Fire Bosses for full-time underground coal mining assignments at multiple locations.

Overall Job Purpose
Examine underground mine areas where miners will work or travel and ensure those areas are safe before work begins.
The Mine Foreman/Fire Boss is responsible for identifying, correcting, documenting, and reporting hazardous conditions, violations, and potential violations while ensuring compliance with applicable company policies and state and federal mine safety requirements.
Primary Responsibilities
- Conduct required examinations of assigned underground mine areas.
- Inspect travelways, working sections, equipment areas, ventilation controls, roof and rib conditions, and other assigned locations.
- Identify hazardous or unsafe conditions before miners enter or begin work.
- Correct hazards when authorized and able to do so safely.
- Report hazards, violations, and conditions requiring additional corrective action.
- Maintain accurate examination records and required documentation.
- Communicate findings clearly to mine management, supervisors, and affected crews.
- Verify that required safety controls are in place and functioning properly.
- Help ensure compliance with Pennsylvania mine safety requirements, federal regulations, MSHA requirements, approved mine plans, and site-specific policies.
- Promote safe and productive work practices throughout the assigned area.
- Perform additional underground supervisory or production duties based on experience and operational needs.
Required Qualifications
Applicants must:
- Hold a valid Pennsylvania Mine Foreman and/or Fire Boss certification applicable to the position.
- Have a working knowledge of underground coal mine examinations, ventilation, roof and rib hazards, haulage, electrical hazards, emergency procedures, and general mine safety requirements.
- Be able to recognize hazardous conditions and take appropriate corrective action.
- Be able to accurately complete required records and reports.
- Demonstrate sound judgment, leadership, professionalism, and clear communication.
Essential Job Requirements
Successful candidates must be able to:
- Report to scheduled shifts on time and promptly communicate work absences.
- Work 8- to 12-hour shifts.
- Work overtime, weekends, and six- or seven-day workweeks when required.
- Adjust to different shifts, mine locations, crews, assignments, and operational needs.
- Remain alert and focused in a safety-sensitive underground mining environment.
- Demonstrate precision, steadiness, problem-solving skills, and quick reaction abilities.
- Follow all company, mine-site, state, federal, and MSHA safety requirements.
- Work respectfully and effectively with different personalities and viewpoints.
- Accept constructive feedback and respond appropriately.
- Perform physically demanding work in an underground environment.
- Maintain reliable transportation to and from assigned mine locations.
- Comply with Vesta Mine Services’ drug and alcohol policies.

- Reliable transportation is required.
- This is a full-time, on-site position.
- This position cannot be performed remotely.
- Work location and assignment may change based on operational needs.
