Duties
- Perform detailed bookkeeping tasks including double-entry bookkeeping, journal entries, and account reconciliations to ensure the accuracy of the general ledger.
- Manage accounts payable and receivable processes using leading financial software such as QuickBooks, Xero, Sage, or Workday.
- Conduct balance sheet reconciliations and review account analyses to identify discrepancies and resolve issues promptly.
- Handle payroll management through systems like ADP, Ceridian, Kronos, or UltiPro while ensuring compliance with tax laws and payroll regulations.
- Maintain confidentiality of sensitive financial information while processing data entry tasks with high numeracy skills and attention to detail.
- Assist with budgeting, credit analysis, and financial data analysis using Excel data analysis tools and spreadsheets for informed decision-making.
- Support internal controls and compliance standards such as SOX (Sarbanes-Oxley Act) to safeguard company assets and ensure regulatory adherence.
- Collaborate with external auditors during audits, providing necessary documentation related to governmental accounting or nonprofit accounting as needed.
Experience
- Proven accounting or bookkeeping experience within a corporate or public accounting environment, demonstrating strong understanding of GAAP and governmental accounting principles.
- Hands-on experience with multiple financial software platforms including QuickBooks, Xero, Sage, PeopleSoft, or similar systems; familiarity with payroll systems like ADP or Ceridian is highly desirable.
- Strong knowledge of technical accounting concepts such as journal entries, account reconciliation, balance sheet management, debits & credits, and general ledger accounting.
- Demonstrated ability to handle confidential information responsibly while maintaining high levels of accuracy in data entry and financial recordkeeping.
- Excellent analytical skills with proficiency in Excel data analysis, spreadsheets, and accounting systems to support audit readiness and financial reporting requirements.
- Experience working in diverse environments such as nonprofit organizations or government agencies is a plus; familiarity with audit procedures related to SOX compliance is advantageous.
- Strong communication skills coupled with customer service orientation to collaborate effectively across teams and support internal stakeholders.
