JOB
Under the direction of the Foreman, the Maintenance Worker is responsible for performing physical labor and operating equipment associated with construction, maintenance of streets, sidewalks, curbs and gutters, and signage and drainage facilities. Maintenance Workers regularly perform routine maintenance tasks related to the repair and general upkeep of the City’s premises, equipment, systems, parks, and cemeteries.
EXAMPLE OF DUTIES
Maintain and repair city streets, state routes, cemeteries, parks, recreation facilities and all city property and buildings.Remove debris and dead animal carcasses from streets and public grounds.Maintain all storm drainage structures and waterways.Maintain and repair traffic signs, posts, crash attenuators, and guardrails.Perform routine maintenance on department vehicles and equipment.Properly operate hand and power tools; dump trucks, loader/backhoe, roller, sweeper, and other motorized equipmentRead and utilize serviceman manuals, keep accurate daily logs for pesticides, and apply pesticides by following the prescribed label as directed by the supervisor.
SUPPLEMENTAL INFORMATION
Compensation: Entry-level non-CDL holders start at $20.40 per hour.Current Class B-CDL holders start at $22.15-$25.01 per hour, depending on experience.
