Mercy Hospital has helped pioneer some of the nation’s most innovative heart procedures, including robotic, minimally invasive, standard heart surgery and TAVR. By joining the Open Heart Surgery Team as an RN First Assistant, you assist in the provision of surgical nursing care and treatment to patients undergoing cardiac procedures. Y ou will c ommunicate with surgeons, other nurses and caregivers in the O perating Room on patient status and next steps in the procedure . You will also assist with closing wounds, placing catheters, surgical prep and scrubbing in. By taking on this opportunity, you will gain plenty of hands-on experience while working at one of the best places to receive healthcare.
A caregiver in this position works varying days and hours between 6:30AM – 5 :00PM, with on-call requirements.
A caregiver who excels in this role will:
Handle tissue, provide exposure, use instruments, suture, provide hemostasis, and close tissue and skin in an operative setting.
