Job Description
Position: Part time Assistant Teacher
Reports to: Director
Scope of Work: Classroom support for Primary Classrooms-ages 2.9-6.
Experience Requirements:
- Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing
- Ability to work with children in an educational setting
- Experience in a Montessori preschool setting
Education/Certification Requirements:
- Clear CORI and MA fingerprinting
- Training and experience working with young children required
- Willingness to work towards EEC Lead Teacher certification
- Willingness to take an introductory assistant's overview training
General Responsibilities:
Support the Lead teacher (LT) in the design and preparation of an inviting and challenging Montessori environment using a full complement of Montessori materials as well as supplemental materials. Work in partnership with the LT to prepare for the cognitive, social/emotional and physical achievement of children as well as for their safety and well-being.
Specific Responsibilities:
- Work with LT to present clear/consistent expectations for class routines and classroom community goals
- Assist children with personal care independence when applicable (toileting, hand washing, etc.)
- Follow recommendations for students who receive support through a specialist (Early Intervention, Speech Therapy, Occupational Therapy, etc.)
- Support students with individual behavioral plans
- Supervise children regarding emergency practices such as fire drills
- Maintain the daily cleanliness and overall preparation of common areas in the classroom and throughout the school (student lockers, entrance ways, classroom furniture counters, etc.)
Schedule: 8:30-2:30. M-F (can be flexible) This is an hourly position and is part-time with opportunity to move to salaried position.
Pay: $24-$26/hour– negotiable based on experience/education/EEC licensure
Pay: $24.00 - $26.00 per hour
