JOB SUMMARY
The Liberty County Board of Assessors is seeking applicants for the full-time position of Appraisal Clerk. This position is responsible for providing clerical and customer service support to the Assessor's Office.
MAJOR DUTIES

Answers the telephone and greets visitors; provides information and assistance; assists in resolving property owner inquiries.

Transfers real estate property; enters deeds to computer and makes corrections; inputs all changes to real property and mobile homes.

Inputs and processes exemptions, taxpayer returns, and motor vehicle appeals.

Prints, sorts, and mails assessment notices.

Reviews Department of Natural Resources records to identify newly registered boats; reviews FAA records to identify new aircraft.

Examines business license lists to determine business status and to ensure all business are submitting returns.

Visits mobile home dealers to obtain a physical count of inventory.

Drafts and types routine correspondence.

Maintains office files and records.
-
Collects, sorts, and distributes mail.

Makes copies of maps.

Performs data entry duties.

Performs other related duties as assigned.
KNOWLEDGE REQUIRED BY THE POSITION

Knowledge of modern office practices and procedures.

Knowledge of state and county laws, rules, and regulations regarding property tax and appraisal methods.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS/ WORK ENVIRONMENT

Requirements
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

High school diploma or equivalent required.

More than one (1) year of related experience required.

Possession of a valid Georgia Class C driver’s license and acceptable driving record.
WORK SCHEDULE AND BENEFITS
This position typically works Monday - Friday from 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM. The Assessor's Office is located in the Liberty County Courthouse Annex in downtown Hinesville, Georgia.
