Lee County is seeking a dependable, detail-oriented, and customer-service focused individual to join the County ClerkRecorder's Office as a Deputy County Clerk with a focus on Recording. This position provides administrative and clerical support with a primary focus on the recording, indexing, retrieval, and maintenance of official county and property-related records. The Deputy County Clerk works closely with the public, attorneys, title companies, county departments, and other agencies and plays an important role in ensuring county records are accurate, accessible, and properly maintained.
What You'll Do

Provide professional and courteous customer service to the public, attorneys, title companies, county staff, and outside agencies.

Answer phones, respond to questions, and provide information regarding recording services, county procedures, and official records.
- Record, index, file, and maintain official county and property-related documents.
- Review documents for completeness and verify legal descriptions for accuracy prior to recording.
- Search and retrieve recorded documents and archived records.
- Perform back indexing and maintain accurate electronic ad physical records.
- Assist with delinquent tax lookups, tax extension processes, and related transactions.
- Receive and process payments, prepare receipts, balance transactions, and assist with deposits.
- Prepare daily and monthly reports and maintain organized records and databases.
- Coordinate with the Treasurer's Office, Assessment Office, and other county departments regarding property and tax-related matters.
- Perform data entry, filing, scanning, copying, document preparation, and other general office duties.
- Learn and apply applicable state statutes, county ordinances, policies, procedures, and regulations.
- Assist with special projects and perform other duties as assigned.

High school diploma or equivalent

Basic computer proficiency and experience using standard office equipment

Ability to learn and apply applicable laws, regulations, policies, and procedures

Valid driver's license, as required for assigned duties

Legal authorization to work in the United States

Ability to successfully complete a required background check
Preferred

Previous clerical, administrative, customer service, or related office experience

Experience in local government, records management, elections, or another public-sector office

Associate degree or coursework in business administration, public administration, or a related field

Experience handling payments, balancing receipts, or maintaining financial records

Bilingual communication skills

Work Environment
This is a full-time position working Monday through Friday during regular county office hours. The position is primarily based in a professional office environment with frequent public interaction, interruptions, and time-sensitive responsibilities. Occasional additional hours or limited travel may be required for trainings, meetings, election-related activities, or other county business.
