Job Summary
We are seeking a detail-oriented and motivated Pharmacy Technician to join our team. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in pharmacy operations, with experience in LTC (Long-Term Care) pharmacy, critical care, and hospital settings. This role involves supporting medication dispensing, patient service, and ensuring compliance with safety standards while providing exceptional patient care in a fast-paced environment.
Duties
- Prepare and dispense medications accurately, including IV infusions and aseptic techniques for sterile compounding.
- Assist pharmacists with medication intake, verification, and documentation processes to ensure precise medication management.
- Provide excellent patient service by answering questions, offering medication guidance, and supporting patient care initiatives.
- Maintain accurate inventory control of pharmaceuticals, including ordering, stock rotation, and storage in accordance with safety protocols.
- Support hospital and acute care units by ensuring timely medication delivery and adherence to medical terminology standards.
- Follow strict aseptic techniques during compounding and medication preparation to prevent contamination.
- Assist with medication administration procedures under supervision, ensuring compliance with healthcare regulations.
Qualifications
- Proven experience as a pharmacy technician, preferably within LTC pharmacy or hospital environments.
- Critical care experience is highly desirable for supporting complex medication needs.
- Knowledge of medical terminology, medication administration procedures, and aseptic techniques.
- Strong understanding of pharmacy operations within acute care settings and hospital environments.
- Excellent patient service skills with a focus on compassionate communication and support.
- Ability to work efficiently under pressure while maintaining accuracy in medication handling.
- Certification as a pharmacy technician or equivalent qualification is preferred; ongoing professional development in pharmacy practice is advantageous. Pay: $21.00 - $24.00 per hour
