Responsibilities
- Operate cash registers (POS systems) accurately during retail sales transactions, including scanning items, processing payments, and issuing receipts
- Handle cash drawer operations with precision, ensuring proper cash handling and balancing at shift end
- Deliver excellent customer service by greeting shoppers warmly, answering questions, and assisting with product information or demos
- Promote store products through upselling techniques and suggestive selling to maximize sales opportunities
- Maintain knowledge of store merchandise, including stock levels and product placement, to assist customers effectively
- Support merchandising efforts by stocking shelves, organizing displays, and ensuring the sales floor is tidy and inviting
- Demonstrate strong communication skills by engaging customers professionally via phone etiquette or in person
Qualifications
- Previous experience in retail sales or cashiering is preferred; grocery store experience is a plus
- Familiarity with POS systems and cash register operations
- Strong basic math skills for handling transactions accurately and managing cash drawers confidently
- Excellent customer service skills with the ability to communicate clearly and courteously in a bilingual environment if applicable
- Supervising experience is advantageous for leadership opportunities within the team
- Ability to perform retail math calculations quickly and accurately for pricing and discounts
- Knowledge of retail store product knowledge, merchandising standards, and stock management practices
