Job Summary
We are seeking a dynamic and detail-oriented Project Estimator specializing in demolition, concrete, and excavation projects. In this role, you will be responsible for accurately estimating project costs, reviewing construction drawings, and managing budgets to ensure successful project execution. Your expertise will help drive profitable bids, optimize resource allocation, and support project management teams from inception through completion. Responsibilities
- Review and interpret technical construction drawings, blueprints, and specifications related to demolition, concrete, and excavation work to determine scope and material requirements.
- Develop detailed project estimates by analyzing labor, materials, equipment costs, and subcontractor quotes using estimating software such as HeavyBid and Xactimate.
- Manage project budgets by monitoring costs throughout the bidding process and construction phases, ensuring adherence to financial targets through effective cost control strategies.
- Prepare comprehensive bid proposals that include pricing, schedules, and resource planning while negotiating contracts with clients and subcontractors to secure favorable terms.
- Utilize Bluebeam for digital markup review of drawings and documents to identify potential issues or scope changes early in the process.
- Collaborate with project managers and field teams to ensure estimates align with project timelines, site conditions, and safety standards.
- Maintain accurate records of all estimating activities, including bid documentation, contract negotiations, and cost management reports.
Experience
- Proven experience managing projects as a construction estimator within demolition, concrete, or excavation sectors.
- Strong background in construction drawing review, interpreting technical diagrams, and estimating material requirements from blueprints.
- Proficiency with estimating tools such as HeavyBid, Xactimate, and Bluebeam; experience with cost management software is highly desirable.
- Demonstrated ability in negotiating contracts effectively while maintaining positive relationships with clients and subcontractors.
- Solid understanding of construction site operations, safety standards, contracts, and project management principles.
- Prior experience in cost control, budgeting for large-scale projects, and pricing strategies within the heavy civil or demolition industry is preferred.
