Job Summary: We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Custom Cabinet Finisher to join our team. As a Custom Cabinet Finisher, you will be responsible for applying finishes, stains, and coatings to custom cabinets and millwork, ensuring that they meet the highest quality standards. Key Responsibilities:
Finish Application: Apply various finishes, stains, and coatings to custom cabinets using appropriate techniques and equipment. Spray finishing experience is a plus!
Surface Preparation: Prepare cabinet surfaces by sanding, filling, and cleaning to ensure a smooth and even finish. Repair any imperfections or blemishes as necessary.
Color Matching: Expertly match stains to client specifications or designer requirements to achieve the desired color and appearance.
Quality Control: Inspect finished cabinets for quality and consistency, making necessary touch-ups and adjustments to ensure a flawless result.
Safety Compliance: Follow safety guidelines and use personal protective equipment when handling chemicals and equipment. Ensure a safe working environment for yourself and colleagues.
Clean-Up: Maintain a clean and organized work area, including proper disposal of waste materials, empty containers, and used equipment.
Communication: Collaborate with the design and installation teams to ensure that cabinet finishes align with project specifications and client expectations.
Record Keeping: Maintain records of materials used, project timelines, and any changes made during the finishing process.
Qualifications:
- Proven experience as a custom cabinet finisher or similar role in the woodworking or cabinetry industry.
- Knowledge of different types of finishes, stains, and coatings, as well as their application techniques.
- Skill in color matching and creating custom finishes to achieve specific aesthetics.
- Proficiency with sanding and preparation techniques to ensure a high-quality finish.
- Attention to detail and a strong commitment to producing top-quality work.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team to meet project deadlines.
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to make adjustments as needed during the finishing process.
- Knowledge of safety procedures and the proper use of protective equipment.
Education and Training:
A high school diploma or equivalent is typically required. Additional training or certifications related to cabinet finishing is a plus.
Work Environment:
The Custom Cabinet Finisher will primarily work in a workshop or on-site at client locations, depending on the project. The job may involve exposure to dust, fumes, and chemicals, so safety precautions are essential.
