Occupational Therapy Outpatient Responsibilities & Expectations:
Provide direct weekly occupational therapy services and consultations. To include (but not limited to):
- Individualized evaluations, during which the client/family and occupational therapist determine the person’s goals,
- Customized intervention to improve the person’s ability to perform daily activities and reach the goals, and
- Evaluations to ensure that the goals are being met and/or to make changes to the intervention plan.
- Lead small therapeutic groups and co-lead collaborative summer camps.
- Supervise pre-OT, practicum, level one and level two OT students.
- Collaborate with other state and/or community agencies as related to clinic programming
Additional/Optional Role: Therapeutic Consultation:
Assessment, planning, development, and training services to families, or caregivers of individuals to allow the individual to gain a better understanding of their disability, increase their self-determination/self-advocacy skills, or improve the family's or caregiver's ability to give care and support.
Billable Activities:
- Interview the individual, family members, caregivers, and relevant others to identify issues to be addressed and desired outcomes of consultation
- Observe the individual in daily activities, clinical and natural environments
- Assess the individual’s need for an assistive device, DME, environmental modification and/or adjustment
- Observe and assess current interventions, support strategies, or assistive devices being used with the individual
- Develop written supporting documentation detailing the interventions, environmental adaptations, and support strategies to address the identified issues and desired outcomes; this may include recommendations related to specific devices, technology, or adaptation of other training programs or activities
- Demonstrate specialized, therapeutic interventions, individualized supports, or assistive devices
- Train family/caregiver and other relevant persons to assist the individual in using an assistive device, to implement specialized, therapeutic interventions, or adjust currently utilized support techniques
- Train relevant persons to better support the individual simply by observing the individual’s environment, daily routines, and personal interactions
- Review documentation and evaluate the efficacy of assistive devices or the activities and interventions identified in the supporting documentation
- Train and provide technical assistance to family members, caregivers, and other individuals primarily responsible for carrying out the individual’s POC
- Determine the need for continuation or termination of services including making recommendations and completing a discharge summary.

Pay: From $50.00 per hour
