Key Responsibilities
Safety and Operations
- Safely load and unload butane, from railcars into tank trailers in accordance with established operating procedures and safety standards.
- Conduct daily inspections of railcars, transfer equipment, hoses, valves, and related systems to ensure safe and compliant operations.
- Maintain constant awareness of operating conditions and proactively identify, report, and address potential safety hazards.
- Ensure proper hose connections and secure transfer operations using approved procedures and equipment.
- Accurately complete required inspection reports, transfer documentation, and safety records.
- Weigh trucks and tank trailers entering and leaving the facility using certified scales and maintain associated documentation.
- Prepare railcar Bills of Lading (BOLs) and maintain accurate inventory and operational records.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment.
Operational Flexibility
During periods of reduced workload at this location, employees may be assigned to other Hilco facilities to perform comparable duties in support of overall operational requirements while maintaining consistent work hours.
Compliance and Training
Employees are expected to understand and strictly comply with all company safety policies and procedures, as well as applicable regulations and standards established by:
- Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA)
- North Carolina Department of Agriculture
- Federal Railroad Administration (FRA)
Comprehensive training will be provided to ensure employees maintain the knowledge and qualifications necessary to perform their duties safely and effectively.
Work Environment and Physical Requirements
- Work is performed primarily outdoors and may involve exposure to varying weather conditions, including heat, cold, rain, humidity, and other environmental elements.
- Regular exposure to industrial environments involving heavy equipment, railcars, tanker trailers, and moving vehicles.
- Ability to safely work at varying heights, including accessing equipment and platforms up to approximately 15 feet above ground level.
- Ability to safely handle, lift, carry, and connect hoses, valves, and related equipment while following approved safety procedures.
- Ability to stand, walk, climb, bend, and perform physical tasks throughout the workday.
- Ability to wear required personal protective equipment (PPE) and comply with all site safety requirements.
Qualifications
- Commitment to maintaining a strong safety culture and working safely at all times.
- Mechanical aptitude and the ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
- Strong attention to detail and documentation accuracy.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Willingness to work outdoors and in an industrial environment.
- Previous experience in transloading, rail operations, propane, butane or industrial operations is preferred but not required.
- Must meet all pre-employment screening requirements, including a drug test.
Schedules available:
2nd shift, 3pm-11pm
3rd shift, 11pm-7am
Pay: $23.00 - $25.00 per hour
