The Estimator prepares accurate cost estimates and price quotations for custom-manufactured parts and machining projects. This role reviews customer drawings, blueprints, specifications, and production requirements to determine labor, materials, tooling, machine time, and outside-service costs.
Key Responsibilities:
- Review customer blueprints, CAD drawings, specifications, and requests for quotation (RFQs).
- Calculate material, labor, setup, tooling, machining, inspection, and outside-processing costs.
- Determine the most efficient manufacturing and machining processes.
- Obtain pricing and lead times from suppliers and outside vendors.
- Prepare accurate quotes, pricing breakdowns, and estimated delivery dates.
- Work closely with engineering, production, purchasing, quality, and sales departments.
- Maintain organized records of quotes, revisions, and customer requirements.
- Follow up on open quotes and update pricing when specifications or material costs change.
- Compare estimated costs with actual production costs to improve future quotations.
- Identify missing information or potential manufacturing challenges before submitting a quote.
Pay: $75,000.00 - $105,000.00 per year
