Acute Care Nurse Practitioner – Pulmonary & Critical Care
Louisville Pulmonary Care is seeking a dedicated Acute Care Nurse Practitioner to join our established practice and collaborate with an experienced team of Nurse Practitioners and Pulmonary/Critical Care physicians in delivering high-quality, patient-centered care as we continue to grow and expand our services.

POSITION SUMMARY
The Nurse Practitioner will provide comprehensive critical care services to ICU patients in collaboration with Pulmonary and Critical Care physicians. The provider will evaluate, diagnose, monitor, and manage critically ill patients while ensuring timely and effective patient care during assigned shifts, including nights and weekends.
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES
- Perform comprehensive assessments and develop treatment plans for critically ill patients
- Evaluate and manage ICU admissions, transfers, and consultations
- Monitor patient status and respond to changes in clinical condition
- Order, interpret, and communicate diagnostic testing and laboratory results
- Collaborate with physicians, nursing staff, respiratory therapists, and other healthcare professionals
- Document patient encounters accurately and timely in the electronic medical record
- Participate in multidisciplinary rounds and care planning as appropriate
- Provide patient and family education regarding treatment plans and care goals
QUALIFICATIONS
- Current Nurse Practitioner license in Kentucky
- Board Certified NP (ACNP, AGACNP, FNP with significant ICU experience, or equivalent)
- DEA license and prescriptive authority
- BLS and ACLS certification required
- ICU, Critical Care, Pulmonary/Critical Care, Emergency Medicine, or Hospital Medicine experience preferred
- Strong clinical decision-making and critical thinking skills
PREFERRED EXPERIENCE
- Critical Care or ICU NP experience
- Ventilator management
- Management of acute respiratory failure, sepsis, shock, and other critically ill populations
- Familiarity with ICU procedures and evidence-based critical care practices

- Work alongside board-certified Pulmonary and Critical Care physicians
