Factory Porter Role (Maspeth)
Varsagodis LLC is looking for a dependable, diligent and productive Porter to join our rapidly growing company! This role provides janitorial, sanitation and material handling support to our manufacturing facility while adhering to GMP standards.
This will be an in-person position at our factory located in Maspeth, Queens. This position will be full-time (40 hours per week) at the pay rate of $21.00 per hour. Hours will be 7:00 am - 4:00 pm.
The ideal candidate will be clean, punctual and organized. Must be able to lift up to 50 lb. Must be able to work well with others and independently.
What you’ll be doing:
- Daily dedust and mop floors without disrupting workflow of packers and/or production suite, both first and second floor
- Gather and prepare all waste and paper waste for waste disposal and recycling
- Sanitize all high touch areas (tables, doorknobs, sink faucets, etc)
- Deep clean and sanitize bathroom on a weekly basis (first floor)
- Deep clean break area (first floor) including all appliances (microwave, refrigerator, etc)
- Shovel and salt outside areas in front of building during winter months
- Maintain and organize cleaning supplies, report any low supplies to Supervisor
- Move materials using a straddle stacker lift to second floor daily
- Assist Warehouse Coordinator and Transport Associate with material handling during transport pick ups/drop offs
- Keep tools and supplies organized and out of loading area
- Clean up any spills and remove debris from walkways to prevent workplace accidents
- Adhere to company policies such as using specific cleaning materials, hazard communication and OSHA safety guidelines
- Dedust machinery to reduce dust and build up
- Alert Supervisor of any equipment malfunctions
Who you are:
- Based in the Tri-state area with the ability to commute to Maspeth, Queens- Comfortable with physical labor of standing, bending, lifting, pushing, etc
- Proficiency in the English language (both verbal and written)
- Previous porter or janitorial experience preferred but not required- Familiar with cleaning tools and warehouse equipment such as straddle stacker
- Capable of self managing multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment
- Comfortable with adapting to change within a growing company- Passionate and excited to contribute to the growth of our brand
- You are at least 18 years of age
