Purpose of Job
This position is responsible for performing a variety of patient care activities in a specialty clinic. Facilitates patient/provider communication and coordination of care. Provides specialized care to patients with diseases of the skin, hair, nails and mucous membranes.
Job Functions

Reviews patient's medical history while collecting, prioritizing, and synthesizing comprehensive data pertinent to the patient's health or situation.

Provides specialized care to patients with diseases of the skin, hair, nails and mucous membranes.

Evaluates, diagnoses and treats patients with benign and malignant disorders of the integumentary system as well as sexually transmitted diseases.

Administers prescribed medications/vaccines and treatments in accordance with clinic policies and scope of certification/licensure.

Evaluates, interprets, and coordinates information to make decisions and recommendations regarding patient care.

Provides education, consultation or intervention to patients (treatment plan) and their families.

Works collaboratively with patients to improve their health and well-being.

Practices in a thoughtful manner including consideration for cultural diversity, individual autonomy and legal responsibilities.

Performs specialty procedures/tests

Helps maintain stocked supplies and sterilizes instruments/exam room.

Assists in arranging referrals/prior authorizations as necessary.

Charts in electronic format in accordance with licensure and scope.

Actively participates in multidisciplinary team approach to case management.
Minimum Education/Work Experience
-
MD, DO, or foreign equivalency training required
- BE/BC in Dermatology
-
Completion of an Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME) or American Osteopathic Association (AOA) accredited Residency training program in Dermatology
- Active, non-restricted medical license in MN (or ability to obtain)
- Ability to obtain and/or maintain MN DEA certification and National Provider Identifier (NPI)
- Ability to meet criteria/qualifications for Credentialing and hospital privileges, if applicable
- BLS/ACLS required within 180 days of hire
- Licensed Physician - MN Board of Medical Practice required upon hire and

ACLS/BLS Tier 3 - Multisource required upon hire and

PALS - Pediatric Advance Life Support - Multisource required depending on business unit upon hire
- NRP - Neonatal Resuscitation - Multisource required depending on business unit upon hire

Board Certification or Board eligible by the American Board of Dermatology or in Dermatology by the American Osteopathic Board of Dermatology upon hire
- Drug Enforcement Agency Certificate upon hire
- Prescription Monitoring Program upon hire

National Provider Identifier upon hire
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities

Ability to meet and maintain the necessary background checks as aligned with position functions.

License/Certifications

Obtain Minnesota Board of Medical Practice Licensure, DEA certification in the State of Minnesota, and meet threshold criteria/qualifications for Credentialing and Privileges
