Responsible for the overall area program direction and coordination of the Missouri Military Funeral Honors Program (MMFHP). Supports requests throughout the area of responsibility for Military Funeral Honors support to veterans; and develop, maintain policies, procedures, and standing operations procedures (SOP), within assigned area, for military honors detail performance. Receive Annual and Sick Leave along with Military Leave if currently in the Missouri National Guard or Reserves.
Job Location: This position will be located at 2302 Militia Drive, Jefferson City, MO 65101
Responsibilities - What you’ll do
- Ensures all Funeral Honors are provided to Veterans and Service Members in accordance with state and federal law.
- Coordinates with the Regional Casualty Assistance Center (CAC), Funeral Home, Honor Guard, and supporting military unts to ensure all requests for MFH are supported.
- Coordinates on a regional basis the fulfillment of military members to support requests for MFH ceremonies for deceased veterans. As required, coordinate Veteran Service Organization (VSO) support in the absence of the Area Coordinator.
- Ensures all Honor Guard members are in compliance with AR670-1 (Uniforms and Insignia), FM 21-20 (Physical Fitness Standard, and all other applicable regulations policies governing the Honor Guard program.
Qualifications - All you need for success
Minimum Qualifications
- Working knowledge of military structure, capabilities, and procedures.
- Working knowledge of the principles and practices of office organization and management.
- Possess and maintain a current Missouri Driver’s License.
- Ability to manage a team and maintain a military atmosphere.
Preferred Qualifications
- Current or prior Non-Commissioned Officer or Company Grade Officer.
- Ability to understand and carry out complex oral and written directions and to maintain complex records.
- Ability to function in a high stress environment involving multi-tasking requirements.
- Ability to communicate effectively.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with internal and external agencies.
