Job Overview
We are seeking a knowledgeable and customer-focused Parts Advisor to join our automotive team. The ideal candidate will possess strong automotive parts and accessories knowledge, excellent communication skills, and the ability to build lasting customer relationships. This role involves assisting customers with parts selection, managing inventory, and supporting sales efforts to ensure a seamless service experience. The Parts Advisor plays a vital role in maintaining efficient operations within our dealership or repair facility, contributing to overall customer satisfaction and business success.
Duties
- Assist customers in identifying and selecting the appropriate automotive parts and accessories based on vehicle requirements.
- Utilize automotive diagnostics and mechanical troubleshooting skills to recommend suitable solutions.
- Manage inventory control, including stocking, order fulfillment, and parts management using systems like CMMS or inventory management software.
- Process sales transactions accurately using POS systems and handle cash or card payments with professionalism.
- Maintain organized records of customer interactions, sales, and inventory updates using Microsoft Office tools such as Excel and Word.
- Build strong customer relationships through effective communication, product knowledge, and exceptional service.
- Collaborate with the service department to ensure timely availability of parts for repairs and maintenance.
- Engage in marketing activities to promote parts sales and special offers.
- Keep the work area clean, organized, and compliant with safety standards.
- Support dealership or shop operations by performing miscellaneous tasks such as stocking shelves, assisting with vehicle maintenance advice, and providing excellent phone etiquette.
Requirements
- Proven experience in automotive parts sales or dealership environments. (Chrysler, Dodge, Jeep, RAM experience preferred.)
- Strong knowledge of automotive parts, accessories, vehicle systems, and automotive repair processes.
- Familiarity with inventory management systems (Tekion), POS systems, Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word), and retail math skills.
- Excellent organizational skills with attention to detail for inventory control and order fulfillment.
- Effective communication skills for client interaction, client communication, negotiation, and team collaboration.
- Bilingual abilities are a plus to serve a diverse customer base effectively.
- Mechanical troubleshooting skills and automotive diagnostics knowledge are advantageous.
- Customer service orientation with the ability to build rapport and handle multiple tasks efficiently.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment while maintaining professionalism under pressure.
