The Shop Foreman is responsible for coordinating daily shop workflow, supporting technician productivity, and maintaining repair quality within the service center. This role provides front-line technical leadership, assists with workflow execution, and supports safe and efficient shop operations while partnering closely with the Service Manager to meet operational goals and customer expectations.
Essential Functions and Core Responsibilities

Safely operate company vehicles as assigned and upon obtaining the required Commercial Driver’s License, operate CDLrequired vehicles in compliance with applicable laws, safety requirements, and company vehicleuse policies.

Coordinate daily shop workflow to support efficient repair progression, technician productivity, and timely completion of work orders

Prioritize and assign work based on technician skill level, operational demands, and customer timelines

Monitor repair status, workflow bottlenecks, and labor progress to support efficient shop operations

Provide technical guidance and troubleshooting support to technicians during diagnostic and repair activities

Perform quality control inspections for completed repairs to ensure compliance with company standards, manufacturer guidelines, and safety expectations.

Assist technicians in resolving complex repair or diagnostic issues to minimize downtime and rework

Provide daytoday direction, coaching, and operational support to technicians and shop personnel

Support technician training, development, and adherence to operational and safety expectations

Review and verify technician time entries, labor coding, and workflow status updates for accuracy and completeness

Communicate technician performance, attendance, and productivity concerns to the Service Manager Minimum Qualifications

Support customer satisfaction by ensuring repairs are completed accurately, efficiently, and consistently

Promote safe work practices and maintain compliance with company safety standards and operational procedures

Monitor shop equipment, tools, and operational areas to support readiness, organization, and safe operation

Support achievement of productivity, quality, and turnaround performance goals

Identify operational inefficiencies and communicate improvement opportunities to leadership

Valid Commercial Driver’s License required at hire, or ability to obtain the required CDL and applicable endorsements within 36 months of employment and must maintain an acceptable driving record and company driving authorization.

Advanced knowledge of diagnostic and repair processes in heavy truck or emergency vehicle service

Ability to manage workflow, priorities, and technician productivity in a fastpaced environment

Strong problemsolving and decisionmaking abilities

Proficiency in service software systems, OEM diagnostic tools, and Microsoft Office

EVT Master Technician certification (or ability to obtain within 3 years)

High school diploma or equivalent (higher education in business or related field preferred)

5+ years of service management experience (multilocation leadership preferred)

Experience in automotive, heavy truck, or emergency vehicle service industry

Ability to work in shop, yard, field, or service environments around vehicles, tools, machinery, and moving mechanical parts. This role requires physical activity necessary to inspect, diagnose, repair, and service equipment, which may include standing, walking, bending, kneeling, crouching, climbing, using tools, and lifting, carrying, pushing, or pulling materials consistent with operational needs. Ability to lift or move materials and equipment up to 50 pounds independently and more with appropriate assistance or equipment.
