Responsibilities
- Assist residents with activities of daily living, including bathing, dressing, grooming, and mobility support using equipment such as Hoyer lifts when necessary.
- Monitor and record vital signs, medication administration, and changes in residents’ conditions with precision and attention to detail.
- Provide specialized care for residents with dementia, Alzheimer’s disease, or other memory impairments, ensuring their safety and comfort through tailored approaches like memory care techniques.
- Support residents during meal times, ensuring proper nutrition and hydration while respecting individual preferences and dietary restrictions.
- Maintain accurate medical documentation within electronic health record (EHR) systems, adhering to HIPAA regulations and confidentiality standards.
- Collaborate effectively with nursing staff, physicians, therapists, and family members to coordinate comprehensive care plans.
- Utilize safe lifting practices and manual handling techniques when assisting residents with transfers or repositioning to prevent injury.
Qualifications
- Valid CNA certification with active state licensure; experience working in long-term care facilities is highly preferred.
- Familiarity with EMR/EHR systems such as Epic or Cerner for accurate documentation.
- Experience working with geriatric patients or individuals with developmental disabilities is advantageous.
- Knowledge of infection control procedures, aseptic technique, and basic life support (CPR) certification required.
- Ability to perform heavy lifting safely and efficiently while maintaining patient safety standards.
- Strong communication skills to effectively engage with residents, families, and healthcare team members.
- Prior experience in dementia or Alzheimer’s care, memory care units, or behavioral health settings is a plus.
