Job Summary
We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Diesel Mechanic to join our dynamic maintenance team. In this role, you will be responsible for diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining a wide range of heavy-duty diesel-powered equipment and vehicles. Your expertise will ensure that our fleet and machinery operate safely, efficiently, and reliably across various industries including construction, agriculture, and industrial operations.
Responsibilities
- Perform comprehensive diagnostics on diesel engines, transmissions, hydraulics, electrical systems, and other mechanical components using OEM schematics and advanced diagnostic tools.
- Conduct repairs, preventative maintenance, inspections, and troubleshooting on semi trucks and heavy equipment, including excavators, cranes, forklifts, bulldozers, tractors, and other construction machinery, to ensure safe, reliable, and optimal performance.
- Troubleshoot equipment issues using schematic diagrams, electrical diagnostics, automotive diagnostics, and mechanical knowledge to identify root causes efficiently.
- Carry out routine inspections, preventive maintenance, tire services, brake repairs, suspension adjustments, air brake systems, wheel alignments, welding, and fabrication tasks.
- Maintain detailed service records and documentation of repairs performed; interpret schematics for accurate assembly and disassembly of machinery components.
- Operate heavy equipment safely during troubleshooting or repair processes when necessary; adhere to all safety protocols including heavy lifting and proper use of power tools.
- Collaborate with team members to ensure timely completion of service orders while providing excellent customer service by clearly communicating repair needs and solutions.
Skills and Requirements
- Proven experience working as a Diesel Mechanic in dealership or industrial settings with a strong background in heavy equipment servicing.
- Extensive knowledge of construction machinery maintenance including excavators, cranes, forklifts, tractors, and farm machinery.
- Proficiency in electrical diagnostics, automotive repair techniques, hydraulics systems, HVAC systems related to heavy equipment, and schematics interpretation.
- Skilled in welding, fabrication, metalworking (soldering), tire service, alignment procedures, and general equipment repair using hand tools and power tools.
- Ability to troubleshoot complex mechanical issues involving transmissions, diesel engine diagnostics, air brake systems, suspension components, HVAC systems and electrical systems.
- Familiarity with OEM parts replacement procedures; experience working with construction equipment operation is a plus.
- Strong mechanical aptitude complemented by excellent problem-solving skills; capable of heavy lifting and performing physically demanding tasks safely.
- Effective communicator with a focus on customer service; able to work independently or as part of a team in fast-paced environments.
- Must provide and maintain a professional set of personal mechanic tools appropriate for the repair and maintenance of semi trucks, diesel-powered equipment, and heavy machinery. Tool set should include the hand tools, sockets, wrenches, specialty tools, and other equipment commonly required for heavy-duty diesel and equipment repair. Employer will provide larger shop equipment and specialized diagnostic equipment as needed.

Pay: $20.00 - $50.00 per hour
