Position Summary: Supports the dentist during procedures, ensures smooth clinical operations, and maintains a clean, safe, and efficient environment for patients and staff.
Core Responsibilities
Chairside Assistance
- Prepare patients for dental procedures (set up, review health history, comfort them).
- Assist dentist during exams, fillings, crowns, extractions, etc.
- Hand instruments, mix materials, manage suction, and take notes during treatment.
Patient Care
- Take and develop dental X-rays (if certified).
- Instruct patients on post-op care, oral hygiene, and follow-up visits.
- Maintain a calm and professional presence with anxious patients.
Sterilization & Equipment Maintenance
- Sterilize and disinfect instruments and operatories.
- Prepare trays and rooms for each procedure.
- Monitor inventory of supplies and submit reorder requests.
Administrative Support
- Enter treatment notes accurately in patient records (Eaglesoft, Dentrix, Open Dental, etc.).
- Update patient health history forms.
- Occasionally assist with scheduling or insurance documentation if needed.
Compliance
- Follow OSHA, HIPAA, and infection control standards.
- Maintain certifications (CPR, X-ray permit, etc.).
Preferred Qualifications
- Dental Assistant certification (CODA or on-the-job experience).
- X-ray certification for Wisconsin.
- Minimum 1–2 years dental assisting experience preferred.
- Knowledge of dental terminology, instruments, and chairside techniques.
- Ideally with experience with CEREC and SprintRay
- Ideally Bilingual Spanish/English
- Strong interpersonal and multitasking skills.
Pay Range $22–27/hr, depending on experience and certification.
Pay: $22.00 - $27.00 per hour
