Project Manager — Heavy Commercial Construction
Location: Montgomery, Alabama (on-site)
Compensation: $120,000 – $130,000 base, plus performance bonuses, car allowance, and full benefits

Position Summary
We are seeking an experienced Project Manager to lead ground-up heavy commercial construction projects in the Montgomery, Alabama area. The ideal candidate brings a proven track record managing commercial builds from preconstruction through closeout, with strong command of budget, schedule, quality, and field coordination. Experience with jail or correctional facility projects is a plus but is not required. This role is responsible for driving projects to successful completion while developing strong relationships with owners, subcontractors, and the project team.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage ground-up heavy commercial construction projects from preconstruction through final closeout and owner turnover.
- Serve as a primary point of contact for owners, architects, engineers, subcontractors, and inspecting authorities.
- Develop, manage, and maintain project budgets; track costs, forecast, and protect margin.
- Build and maintain the project schedule; drive milestones and proactively resolve issues that threaten timeline or budget.
- Manage buyout, subcontracts, change orders, RFIs, submittals, and pay applications within Procore.
- Coordinate and support project teams including assistant PMs, superintendents, and field staff.
- Enforce rigorous safety standards and ensure full compliance with all federal, state, and local codes and regulations.
- Oversee quality control and ensure work conforms to drawings, specifications, and contract requirements.
- Provide regular project reporting to senior leadership.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum 5–7 years of experience as a Project Manager on heavy commercial, ground-up construction projects.
- Hands-on experience with Procore project management software.
- Proven success delivering commercial projects on time and on budget.
- Strong command of construction means and methods, scheduling, cost control, and contract management.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and client-facing skills.
- Ability to work on-site in Montgomery, Alabama.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with jail, detention, or correctional facility scope (a plus, not required).
- Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or a related field.
- OSHA 30 certification.
- PMP, CCM, or DBIA credentials.
- Experience with design-build and/or CM-at-risk delivery methods.
- Working knowledge of scheduling tools such as Primavera P6 or MS Project.
