Overview
We are an established electrical contractor seeking an experienced Senior Electrical Estimator / with small amounts of Project Managing to join our team and take on a key leadership role within our company.
This position is ideal for someone with strong electrical construction knowledge who is comfortable estimating projects, supporting field operations, managing project-related technical issues, and helping develop less-experienced team members.
Our company has a strong base of negotiated residential projects and plans to expand relationships with additional general contractors. This position will play an important role in both maintaining the quality of our existing work and helping us grow our estimating and preconstruction capabilities.
Primary Responsibilities
- Prepare accurate electrical estimates for residential, commercial, and other applicable projects
- Perform plan takeoffs and review drawings, specifications, addenda, and project requirements
- Prepare labor and material estimates, vendor requests, exclusions, and proposals

- Assist with major material purchasing and vendor coordination
- Provide technical support to project managers, foremen, and field employees
- Help resolve electrical installation, scope, and constructability issues

- Assist with change-order pricing and project cost review
- Support estimate-to-project handoff when work is awarded
- Implement estimating software

- Mentor and support our existing project management staff as they continue developing their electrical construction knowledge
What We Are Looking For
We are looking for someone who combines strong electrical trade knowledge with practical estimating and project management experience.
Preferred qualifications include:
- Significant experience in the electrical construction industry
- Strong understanding of electrical installation methods and field operations
- Ability to read and interpret electrical drawings, specifications, and construction documents
- Electrical estimating experience
- Project management experience within an electrical contracting environment
- Strong knowledge of material, labor, equipment, and installation requirements
- Strong organizational and communication skills
- Comfortable working with estimating software, spreadsheets, PDFs, email, and other construction technology
- Ability to work independently while also collaborating closely with ownership and other project managers
- Ability and willingness to mentor less-experienced staff
Experience as an electrical foreman, general foreman, superintendent, estimator, or project manager is highly valued.
The Right Person
The right candidate does not need to come from a large corporate environment. We are more interested in someone who understands how electrical work is actually installed and who can apply that knowledge to estimating and project management.
We are looking for someone who can look at a set of plans and recognize potential scope gaps, labor challenges, material requirements, field coordination issues, and opportunities before they become problems.
This is a hands-on leadership position in a small company where your experience and judgment will have a meaningful impact.
Role Within the Company
You will work closely with:
- The company owner on estimating strategy, major project decisions, and customer relationships
- Our existing project manager on workforce scheduling, project coordination, and project execution
- Field foremen and employees on technical and project-related issues
- Our bookkeeping and administrative staff as needed
- General contractors, superintendents, vendors, and suppliers
Our goal is to divide responsibilities according to each team member's strengths so that the Senior PM/Estimator can focus on high-value technical, estimating, and project-management responsibilities rather than being overloaded with routine administrative work.
Growth Opportunity
We are looking for someone who wants to become a long-term, trusted member of the company.
As we expand our relationships with additional general contractors, this person will have an opportunity to help shape our estimating system, improve internal processes, develop our project management team, and contribute directly to the company's future growth.
Compensation
Competitive compensation based on electrical construction, estimating, and project management experience.
Benefits and additional compensation can be discussed based on the candidate's experience and qualifications.
