MANAGER OF FOOD OPERATIONS
The Manager of Food Operations is a key member of the Food Operations management team and is responsible for overseeing the programs, ensuring compliance, managing warehouse personnel, inventory handling, food sorting, shipping, and operations of the warehouse.
The annualized salary range for this position is $77,185.39-$114,099.30. Expected annualized starting salary is $88,743.90-$90,434.26. This position qualifies for an additional $1.50/hour for confirmed Spanish proficiency.

Reports to: Director of Food Operations
Supervises: Delivery Supervisor, Warehouse Supervisor, Food Operations Coordinator
Operational Responsibilities
- Implement department work plans, achieve assigned goals and objectives, and manage the warehouse and delivery budget.
- Oversee movement of all inbound and outbound products, as well as product movement within the emergency food network.
- Manage reclaimed, perishable, and dry product operations.
- Develop and implement strategic initiatives to improve warehouse efficiency, reduce waste, and optimize food distribution processes.
- Manage and oversee order processing functions, including accurate invoicing, data entry, auditing, and documentation filing.
- Oversee and direct planning of order selection functions, ensuring quality, accuracy, proper storage, and timely fulfillment of orders.
- Oversee and direct planning of agency pick up functions, ensuring timely order loading, accurate invoicing, handling of returns or damaged goods, and high-quality customer service.
- Oversee and direct planning of shipping, door-to-door delivery programs and direct service programs, ensuring on-time delivery, order accuracy, product quality, and excellent customer service.
- Direct and oversee fleet management, ensuring adherence to all state and federal requirements, with proper documentation of compliance. Maintain and update related policies and procedures as needed.
- Ensure all functions are executed accurately, on time, and in accordance with good customer service, documentation, auditing and risk management standards.
- Hire, train, supervise, and provide guidance to direct reports and department supervisors on staffing, training, performance management, employee relations, and problem resolution, in accordance with policy, laws, and best practices.
- Manage the functional areas of the department in compliance with established policies and procedures.
- Provide back-up coverage of all supervised areas as needed.
Data, Audits, Reporting
- Manage inventory system: ensuring accurate data entry, invoicing, receiving, and reporting (including month reports and Feeding America quarterly reports).
- Provide reports to Food Bank staff within and outside of the division.
- Prepare reports and conduct data analysis as needed or as directed by the Director of Food Operations, supporting informed decision-making and operational improvements.
- Ensure the tracking and analysis of key operational metrics to evaluate performance and guide improvements or strategic decisions.
- Oversee paperwork accuracy and auditing functions.
- Participate in all position-relevant audits to ensure accuracy, safety, and compliance.
- Prepare, oversee, and follow-up on all warehouse inspections: Feeding America, Board of Health, USDA, AIB, and OSHA compliance.
Division Management
· Assist with leadership of the Food Operations division including the development of work plans, goals, objectives, reporting and performance measurements; the development of the division’s budget; and maintaining AIB compliance.
· Cross trains to provide coverage during other managers’ absences.
· Collaborates with division managers to ensure division operations run efficiently and effectively.
· Facilitate weekly Food Operations staff meetings.
· Lead continuous improvement initiatives, safety risk management, and process enhancements.
· Strictly adhere to and enforce all safety rules as well as all division and Food Bank policies.
Cross-divisional Responsibilities
- Collaborate with Programs staff to manage the Mobile Food Bank and Brown Bag programs.
- Collaborate with cross-functional personnel, division staff, and other Food Bank staff to accomplish organizational goals.
- Represent the division at internal and external meetings.
- Take on special projects as requested by the Director of Food Operations.
- Represent the division in media interviews/recordings.
- Give warehouse tours to groups and visitors.
- Perform all other duties as assigned by the Director of Food Operations
- Consistently standing, sitting, walking, driving, twisting, bending, seeing, hearing, pushing, reaching, pulling, and handling paperwork
- Lifting and gripping of objects weighing from less than 20 lbs. up to 60 lbs. (medical exam required)
- Evenings, overtime, and weekends if needed
- Temperature zones in the warehouse can range from -10 to 95 degrees Fahrenheit.

- 5+ years of management and leadership experience in a warehouse environment including extensive direct supervision, communication, and collaboration skills
- 5+ years of budget forecasting and management experience
- Ability to independently prioritize issues quickly and manage time and resources appropriately in high pressure situations
- Ability to identify and implement efficiencies and continuous improvement initiatives
- Demonstrated use of excellent judgment and diplomacy to determine the appropriate course of action in functional, operating, and personnel issues
- Strong organizational skills
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to effectively communicate within the department, across the organization, and with external parties.
- Microsoft Office skills; Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint
- Ability to foster and maintain a positive working environment including strong team development
- High degree of accuracy
- Strong coordination, time management, organization, documentation, and problem-solving skills.
- Minimum 1-year forklift experience
- Minimum 1-year ride on pallet jack experience
- Knowledge of food safety practices, OSHA regulations, and warehouse compliance standards.
- Experience managing expansive departments
- Large scale Certifications:
o ServSafe Manager or equivalent food safety certification
o HACCP
- Microsoft Office skills; PowerPoint, Publisher or Canva, OneNote
- Bi-lingual, Spanish
- Experience in P2 Inventory Management System
- 5+ years receiving experience
- 2+ years volunteer management experience
