James Bates Brannan Groover LLP, a leading law firm with offices in Atlanta, Macon, and Athens, Georgia, is seeking an experienced legal assistant for our litigation group in our Macon office. As the legal assistant to multiple attorneys, you will be responsible for a wide range of support tasks, enabling the attorneys to focus on strategic initiatives and client engagements. To succeed in this role, the legal assistant must be proactive, detail-oriented, self-motivated, technologically proficient, and possess exceptional organizational and communication skills.
Responsibilities:
- Supporting multiple attorneys in all areas of general legal practice, including drafting correspondence, opening files, maintaining and updating client file lists, and calendar management
- Interacting with clients and other professionals in a friendly, courteous, and professional manner
- Drafting, proofreading, and editing legal correspondence
- Assisting with document reviews for responsiveness, case issues, and privilege responses to discovery requests and identifying privileged documents, documents for redaction, and case issues in context
- Preparing witness files and deposition preparation files
- Preparing court filings and service to counsel
- Calendaring and ensuring that attorneys stay apprised of upcoming deadlines
- Scheduling meetings, phone and video conferences, depositions, and mediations
- Coordinating travel arrangements and expense reimbursement
- Maintaining files
- E-filing
Requirements
- Three to five years of experience, preferably in a mid-to-large organization
- Advanced user of Microsoft Office
- Outstanding organizational skills
- Strong attention to detail
- Ability to manage multiple tasks/projects and deadlines simultaneously
- Professional demeanor and a client-focused attitude
- Excellent communication skills (written and verbal)
- Ability to prioritize numerous tasks in a fast-paced environment
- Ability to work well with others
- Must be self-motivated and able to meet deadlines under pressure

- Superior grammar and proofreading skills
- Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with discretion
- Familiarity with state and federal court rules, procedures, and filing requirements/e-filing
