Worksite: Work is to be performed onsite at the Rhode Island SPCA’s Warwick campus. There is some remote flexibility as well as flexibility with when the weekly hours are completed.
POSITION SUMMARY
The Human Resources Generalist is a hands‑on, part‑time role responsible for establishing and managing the human resources function for a growing non‑profit organization. This individual will serve as the primary HR resource, partnering closely with leadership to build compliant and people‑centered HR practices. This is a true generalist opportunity, ideal for an experienced HR professional who enjoys creating structure, processes, and systems in a mission‑driven environment.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The essential functions include, but are not limited to the following:
· Oversee and manage the Human Resources activities for the organization; plan, organize, and administer all activities related to personnel management, including volunteer matters as necessary.
· Implement and annually update compensation programs; analyze compensation, design, implement, and monitor performance evaluation program.
· Develop, recommend, and implement personnel policies and procedures, prepare and maintain employee handbook.
· Perform benefit administration to include claims resolution, invoice approval, retirement plan and annual healthcare plan renewal.
· In partnership with department leaders, develop and implement strategic recruitment, onboarding, retention and separation plans ensuring a skilled and stable team.
· Provide guidance and support to leadership and employees on HR‑related matters.
· Address employee relations issues with professionalism, discretion, and consistency.
· Ensure compliance with employment laws and regulations, including wage and hour, leave laws, and required postings.
· Establish and maintain department records and reports.
· Administer quarterly all-staff meetings and Employee Advisory Council Meetings.
· Perform other duties as assigned

- Has obtained an HR certification (SHRM‑CP/SHRM‑SCP, PHR, or equivalent)
- Has a broad generalist background including coaching and counseling, performance management, employee involvement, teambuilding, as well as compensation and benefits administration.
- Possesses a thorough knowledge of HR principles and federal/local regulations
- Is experienced with the implementing and administering performance programs.
- Has demonstrated success in recruiting and retaining diverse employee talent, including creating and implementing recruitment strategies.
- Has a command of diversity, equity, and inclusion best practices.
- Can multi-task and prioritize in a busy, fast-growth environment
- Proficiency in MS Word, Excel and Power Point is essential; working knowledge of the Insperity and Mineral HRM systems is a plus.
- Is a team player who exhibits extraordinary discretion, flexibility, and willingness to work cross-functionally.
