QUALIFICATIONS:
- High school diploma or GED

Meet physical requirements:
-
Able to lift heavy loads not to exceed 50 lbs.

Able to climb and work from ladder, scaffolding, or personnel lift
-
Able to stand and walk for long periods of time
-
Training and experience in mechanics, heating, plumbing, carpentry, electricity and painting desired
- Ability to read basic operating instructions and write reports
- Work experience in educational setting preferred

Fireman or engineer license preferred
-
Valid Iowa drivers and/or chauffeurs license required

Possess collaborative and interpersonal skills
Successful completion of a criminal background check and physical capacity profile test will be required upon offer.

Professional Performance Criteria

Performs general cleaning and maintenance of the school building. This includes:
-
Cleaning and maintaining all equipment as assigned
-
Assisting in necessary painting and general repairs to plumbing, electrical, carpentry and general mechanical areas
-
Assisting in remodeling and renovation work
-
Reporting major repairs or damage to school property promptly to the Building Head Custodian, Principal or Director of Buildings and Grounds
-
Performing emergency repair or cleaning services as necessary
-
Assisting in emergency evacuation situations
-
Locking of doors and windows of assigned building(s)

Cleaning corridors during the day when conditions require it
-
Participates in the general maintenance of the school grounds. This includes:

Assisting in snow removal
-
Assists in the moving of classroom furniture, materials, and equipment when need arises
-
Provides input in setting daily schedules and demonstrates initiative in getting duties completed in a timely manner
-
