Position Overview
Fabriweld Corporation is seeking an experienced Industrial Spray Painter to join our fabrication team. In this role, you will be a critical contributor to the final quality, durability, and aesthetic of our manufactured steel components.
This is not an entry-level or residential painting role. We are looking for a skilled craftsman who possesses proven experience in industrial liquid coating applications, precise surface preparation, and complex three-coat procedures. If you have a sharp eye for detail, master-level control over specialized spray equipment, and thrive in a fast-paced manufacturing environment, we want you on our shop floor.
Required Qualifications & Experience
- Experience: Minimum of 1–2 years of proven experience as an Industrial Painter or Spray Painter in a manufacturing, automotive, or heavy industrial setting required.
- Technical Expertise: Proven capability executing three-coat procedures and working with industrial liquid coatings on steel.
- Tool Proficiency: Demonstrated experience operating and maintaining specialized industrial spray guns, pressure pots, and mixing equipment.
- Education: High school diploma or equivalent.
- Work Ethic: Strong self-management skills, a high standard of craftsmanship, and a track record of excellent punctuality.
Key Responsibilities
- Surface Preparation: Prepare the surface of raw steel materials (washing, degreasing, sandblasting, rigging, and prepping) to ensure perfect paint binding and adhesion.
- Coating Application: Expertly apply industrial liquid coatings in the precise color, mil thickness, and amount required by strict customer blueprints and technical specifications.
- Process Management: Efficiently manage the setup, rigging, and breakdown of various steel parts throughout the coating cycle.
- Equipment Maintenance: Safely operate, clean, and maintain specialized spray equipment, industrial tools, and PPE/respirators.
- Quality Control: Conduct in-process inspections to ensure all finishes are smooth, uniform, free of defects, and meet strict durability and aesthetic requirements.
- Team Collaboration: Maintain proactive, daily communication with the Fabrication Supervisor regarding project status and production timelines.
Physical Requirements & Work Environment
- Shop Floor Environment: Ability to navigate an active, heavy industrial fabrication shop safely.
- Physical Dexterity: Ability to stand, walk, bend, stoop, kneel, balance, and use precise finger dexterity to manipulate spray controls and tools for extended periods.
- Lifting: Ability to frequently lift and maneuver components weighing up to 40 pounds.
- Schedule: Full-time. Hours are dictated by production workload and project deadlines; candidates must be willing and available to work overtime exceeding 40 hours per week when necessary.
