This individual will assist the Radiation Therapy staff with the daily duties required to deliver prescribed radiation treatments to patients per the physician's prescription. You will report directly to the lead Radiation Therapist for your assigned area for the day. You may work with several therapists on any given day, but your primary point of contact is the Lead Therapist for the clinic you are assigned to. This position is responsible for assisting the therapy, nursing, and physician staff in providing diverse services to patients with cancer. This individual ensures that supplies and equipment are available to facilitate efficient, effective care. It is important that a friendly, caring, courteous, and professional attitude is displayed as this person has front-line contact with patients and families.
Duties and responsibilities

Fulfills patient care responsibilities as assigned which may include Checking schedules and organizing patient flow; accompanying patients to treatment room; assisting patients as needed with walking, transfers to and from the treatment couch, undressing and gowning as needed, then re-dressing upon completion of daily treatment.
- Assist in administration of hyperthermia treatments to all patients that warrant this treatment modality, after extensive training by the Lead Therapist (Peoria clinic only).

Inquires as to patient status while escorting them to and from the waiting room, report any issues of concerns to the therapist before allowing patient to enter treatment room.
- Verify patients ID using Patient Name and Date of birth and verifying face photo matches the chart photo. Setup patient on treatment couch with correct immobilization devices and alight the patient to markings on their skin to the site of delivery of intended radiation treatment

Perform time out with therapist to ensure all treatment parameters are accurate, complete patient charting then pull up the next patient and review setup notes to prepare for the next patient. Once treatment is completed, enter the treatment room to assist the patient with exiting from the treatment couch, and any other needs they have and escort them to the waiting room or to nursing station if they are scheduled to be seen on this day.

Fulfills clerical responsibilities as assigned which may include Making schedule changes as needed, scheduling upcoming CT scans, etc.
- Fulfills environmental responsibilities as assigned which may include Escorting patients to treatment/examination location, assisting with patient set-up in the treatment/CT room, preparing treatment rooms, setting up immobilization accessories according to setup notes, cleaning treatment devices and treatment couch after each patient, to maintain infection control.
- Works closely with therapy staff, nursing staff, and physicians to facilitate appropriate and excellent care of patients.

Qualifications and Educational Requirement

Prior healthcare experience preferred

Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal

High school diploma or equivalent required

Strong team player and enthusiasm in working with others

Must demonstrate excellent phone etiquette and exceptional customer service skills with good organizational skills

Accuracy with strong attention to detail

Minimum of one year's work experience in a public contact job, preferably service related.

Medical Assistant or Nursing Assistant a plus, but not required.
