Due to an upcoming retirement, Mackinac Straits Health System, located right across the Mackinac Bridge in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan, is searching for a Human Resources Coordinator to join our team. This is an exciting opportunity for a Human Resources professional to join a passionate and professional team. Duties for this position include but are not limited to:
1) Coordinates all activities with MSHS benefit vendors, including American Fidelity, BCBS, EHIM, Edward Jones/ Principal, life insurance, and MERS
2) Coordinates and processes all employee incidents and accidents and coordinates related activities with Workers Compensation
3) Coordinates new hire process, including making offers to candidates, scheduling physicals, coordinating new hire orientation, e-learning, and inputting new hires into ADP-payroll,
4) Serves as a back up for ADP/ Payroll
5) Coordinates and completes quarterly reports such as: New Hire background check verification, QA reports, worker compensation totals, and union seniority lists
6) Coordinates name badges for new hires, volunteers and students
7) Post job openings, maintain posting records, notify supervisor and employee (union) or awarded positions, and notify supervisor of employee start date
8) Serves as back up for provider credentialing
9) Balance invoices, assist employees and maintain files for retirement plans
10) Create, manage and edit job descriptions
11) Coordinate all FMLA requests
12) Monthly social security verification
13) Coordinate COBRA benefits as needed
14) Coordinate and review RN, CNA and LPN Certifications that are required and notify supervisor and employee when they may be expiring.
15) Coordinate and review certifications that employees may be required to maintain and obtain, such as BLS and PALS.
16) Coordinate and maintain all employee personnel files
17) Process garnishments as needed
18) Schedule fingerprinting for all new hires and contractors as needed
19) Assist with taking meeting minutes in other departments as needed
20) Other duties as assigned
Qualifications:
- Degree in Human Resources or related field of study is required
- 1-2 years of experience in a Human Resources field is required, preferably in healthcare
- Exemplary attendance is required
- Strong organizational skills and ability to multi task is essential
- Ability to provide good customer service to MSHS team members and vendors
- Must be able to work a flexible schedule as needed
- Salary commensurate with experience
