Hancock Public Schools is seeking a passionate and dedicated Part-Time Band Director to lead and develop our instrumental music program. The successful candidate will direct both middle school and high school band programs and may also work with upper elementary students as they begin learning instrumental music. This position is primarily scheduled during afternoon hours and offers flexibility for the right candidate.
Responsibilities include:
Directing middle school and high school band rehearsals and performances
Planning and delivering engaging instrumental music instruction Preparing students for concerts and other performances throughout the school year Recruiting and supporting student participation in the band program
Assisting upper elementary students in beginning instrumental music, as needed
Collaborating with school staff, students, and families to promote a positive music education experience
Qualifications:
Valid Michigan teaching certificate with an appropriate music endorsement, or the ability and willingness to obtain the required endorsement in accordance with Michigan certification requirements.
Experience teaching instrumental music and directing bands
Strong communication, organizational, and leadership skills
Ability to inspire and support student musicians of varying skill levels
