**Minimum of 3–5 years of hands-on experience caring for individuals with advanced dementia or Alzheimer’s disease.**
Position Summary
We are seeking a compassionate, highly skilled, and experienced Dementia Caregiver to provide specialized care for individuals with advanced-stage dementia and Alzheimer’s disease in the Franklin, TN area. The ideal candidate will possess extensive hands-on experience managing complex cognitive decline, behavioral challenges, mobility limitations, personal care needs, and emotional support while maintaining the dignity, comfort, and safety of the client.
The caregiver must demonstrate patience, professionalism, strong observational skills, and the ability to respond calmly and effectively in high-stress situations.
Dementia-Specific Care
- Provide specialized care for clients with advanced dementia, Alzheimer’s disease, sundowning, confusion, wandering, aggression, and memory loss.
- Utilize redirection, validation therapy, de-escalation techniques, and calming interventions.
- Maintain a structured and therapeutic environment to reduce anxiety and agitation.
- Monitor changes in cognition, behavior, mood, appetite, and physical condition.
Medication & Health Monitoring
- Assist with medication reminders or administration as permitted by state regulations.
- Observe and report:
- Skin integrity concerns
- Weight loss
- Changes in vital signs
- Signs of infection or dehydration
- Behavioral or cognitive decline
- Document daily care activities accurately and thoroughly.
Emotional & Social Support
- Provide companionship and emotional reassurance.
- Encourage cognitive stimulation through:
- Music therapy
- Reminiscence activities
- Simple conversation
- Sensory engagement
- Support family members with updates and compassionate communication.
Household Support
- Prepare meals according to dietary restrictions and nutritional needs.
- Perform light housekeeping related to client care:
- Laundry
- Bed linen changes
- Dishwashing
- Sanitizing client areas
Pay: $16.00 - $18.00 per hour
