Job Summary
Resounding Joy is seeking a compassionate, adaptable, and collaborative board-certified music therapist who thrives in a community-based nonprofit environment. The ideal candidate enjoys working with diverse populations, builds strong relationships with clients and community partners, exercises sound clinical judgment, and is excited to help expand access to high-quality music therapy throughout San Diego County.
Our board-certified music therapists serve individuals across the lifespan—from premature infants to those receiving end-of-life care—in settings that are both emotionally and financially accessible. As a nonprofit organization, much of our work is provided at no cost or on a sliding scale to ensure equitable access to high-quality music therapy services, regardless of financial circumstances.
Responsibilities
- Deliver high-quality music therapy services across a mixed caseload that may include clinic-based, home-based, school-based, medical, residential, and community settings.
- Provide direct music therapy services to individuals, families, and groups through both in-person and virtual sessions, as appropriate.
- Complete assessments, treatment plans, progress notes, evaluations, discharge summaries, and all required documentation accurately and within established timelines.
- Maintain a caseload that reflects Resounding Joy's commitment to providing exceptional client care while supporting organizational sustainability.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, including physicians, nurses, physical therapists, occupational therapists, speech-language pathologists, teachers, activity directors, caregivers, and other professionals, as appropriate.
- Exercise sound clinical judgment while maintaining client confidentiality and adhering to the AMTA Code of Ethics and CBMT standards.
- Work independently while maintaining regular communication with supervisors regarding client care, scheduling, and program needs.
- Attend staff meetings, supervision sessions, required trainings, and community engagement activities as requested.
- Assist with occasional community outreach, fundraising activities, or special events that
- support Resounding Joy's mission.
- Perform other duties as assigned, consistent with the evolving needs of the organization.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Music Therapy or approved equivalency.
- Active Board Certification in Music Therapy (MT-BC).

Pay: $30.00 - $35.00 per hour
Expected hours: 8.0 – 24.0 per week
